Recruitment

  • Research Staff

Teagasc has regular vacancies in its agriculture research centres for research scientists, technicians and technologists. These are advertised nationally and internationally and on our website. Teagasc has a Post-Doctoral Fellowship Scheme which aims to provide pre-employment support for scientists of high quality. There will also be opportunities for students to enrol in our postgraduate (PhD and Masters) studies programme known as the Walsh Fellowship Programme.

The work of the agricultural and food researcher in Teagasc plays an important part in maintaining the nation's food supply through agricultural productivity, new product development and food safety.

Animal Scientists, Crop Scientists, Economists, Ecologists, Sociologists and Geographers work to a funded programme (EU, NDP etc.), interpret and adapt external research findings and act as a technical resource for our advisory services and other interested parties.

We advertise positions nationally and internationally on a regular basis and you will find details of current staff Recruitment on our website.

  • Postgraduate Fellowships - The Walsh Fellowships

We are a major employer of postgraduate Walsh Fellowship students with some 150 pursuing M.Sc or PhD programmes at any one time. A budget of €2.8 million per annum is committed to the programme. There are up to 50 new places each year with a grant of €21,000 per student.

They are called Walsh Fellowships, to commemorate the late Dr Tom Walsh, first director of both the Agricultural Research Institute and the National Advisory and Training Service, which were merged to form Teagasc, and a prime mover in developing agricultural and food research in Ireland. For more details on Current Walsh Fellowship Recruitment see our main corporate website.
